StressBox provides a psychological assessment and treatment/support service for individuals of all ages experiencing stress, anxiety, depression and other related difficulties.

Jo Clarkson, Registered Clinical Psychologist

MA/PGDip (Clin) Psych, Massey University / University of Waikato

Jo Clarkson is a registered Clinical Psychologist providing assessment and evidence based treatment for a wide range of mental health issues for children, young people and their families, and adults. A variety of modalities are used in her treatment and support including a cognitive behavioral approach, Mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, as well as neuropsychotherapy regarding brain functioning and its influences on emotions and behaviours. Treatment is adapted to each clients’ needs. Jo has worked with a diverse range of people and difficulties since beginning her career over 10 years ago. 

Jo has a background in business administration and marketing which has been very helpful for her work with corporate clients and clients within EAP programmes. This has enabled her to develop and facilitate a number of successful stress and anxiety groups for adults over the years. She started her career in child, adolescent and family services and then focused on working with a range of ages within the public and private sectors. Her experience gained in the public mental health system has been translated into the private practice work for difficult and complex mental health issues. Jo also has an extensive history of providing assessments and treatment for ACC Sensitive Claim and ACC Physical Injury for children, young people and adults. 

With her extensive training and experience, Jo provides high quality and experienced psychological assessment, support and intervention for individuals with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma related issues and other mental health concerns. Jo also enjoys providing supervision to other health professionals also.
